On March 22 Minnehaha’s food distribution program was featured on Fox Channel 9 news in a report by Dawn Mitchell ‘Fighting Hunger on Easter’. 

Planning Commission Recommends Our Housing Proposal!
The Community Development Committee of the City of Minneapolis voted on January 8 to recommend the Deep Roots, New Branches development proposal from Minnehaha UMC and Lake Nokomis Lutheran, Plymouth Foundation and Common Bond, to the full City Council for approval!  This is great news, and pending a positive vote of the City Council on January 18, our work will just be getting underway to build a mixed use housing project at 54th Street and Hiawatha Avenue.

Blessed To Meet Growing Food Demand
It seems inconceivable that the need for supplemental food continues to grow in our little neighborhood every single month, but it does.  With God's grace and blessing we received enough food and (just barely enough) funding to meet the need in 2007. 
The Food Shelf served nearly 125,000 pounds of food to 500 households in 2007 touching the lives of over 1400 Children, adults, and seniors.  The monthly MinneHarvest reached approximately 150 households per month servicing some 200 adults and untold children with groceries and other items.  Our operation got so large we spun off  the "RichHarvest" at Richfield United Methodist Church and they now serve almost as many people as we do on the fourth Saturday of each month.
