This is a question John Wesley (founder of Methodism) encouraged his followers to ask one another. He wanted people to know each other beyond the casualness of “weather and health” and connect at a deeper level. At Minnehaha we have a number of small/soul groups that encourage people to come together for study and personal connections. You are welcomed and encouraged to join these groups at any time. Did you know Minnehaha has a “Green Team”? Do you know what a “Green Team” is? At one of our first meetings we decided our purpose is to: “Create awareness of environmental concerns that will lead to action – individual, group and institutional. Integrate ideas and education into all facets of congregational life.” We’re still working on the details of exactly how to accomplish that.

Our work and direction has been impacted by the fact that we applied for and received a $5,000 Community POWER (Partners on Waste Education and Reduction) Grant (funded by Hennepin County in partnership with the Solid Waste Management Coordinating Board). Our project – the Pick One Thing campaign – will provide an opportunity for everyone to be involved. You’ll be hearing the details in the very near future.

Spend a brief hour and renew your spirit with a service of music and meditation. Taizé Worship, based on the teachings of Brother Roger from Taizé France, uses music with “simple” melody lines and periods of silence to quiet the soul and renew the spirit. There is no sermon, just a brief reading and a few questions to consider.

The sanctuary is set with candles and images of various Christian faiths. Music is led by Barbara Hays and often includes string instruments and a cantor. Join us at 7pm on the second Friday of each month, September through May, and partake of this moving worship opportunity.
